I dropped in at the White House today because a friend asked if the White House has a site. Ok, not the White House, but at WhiteHouse.gov and I must say it is one of the most pleasing looking professional sites I’ve ever come across. During his campaign Barack Obama harnessed the power of social networking like Twitter and the internet in general. We know how that turned out and everyone wondered if he would continue his tryst with technology. Well, he isn’t disappointing anyone there as the post on the new White House Blog says: Change has come to […]
Before any of you wonder what we’re talking about, GIMP is an image manipulation software. We aren’t reviewing any psychotic, masked slaves, the kind you’d find in Pulp Fiction or other such classics. (However if you do fancy those Gimps, just drop us a line and we’ll be more than happy to oblige you with a review.) Focus: GIMP! Right, to avoid confusion; “GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages. (more…)†– […]

You may have figured that we here at Techtites have a thing for WordPress. And who can blame us, right? As a blogger there are many times I’ve thought about putting up a gallery of videos. This is especially handy if you run a media blog or generally do a lot of video tutorials. There are quite a few media player plugins out there that will help you either embed videos on your blog or play videos for you, but very few that allow you to setup a gallery, and none that are easier to use than TubePress. From the […]
The voluminous storage that Gmail offers you ensures that you never need to delete any email. Instead you can archive it and save it for your records. The usual process would be to reply to your email and then hit the archive button. Now, you can skip the two steps and perform both steps at once. Simply navigate to the Labs tab under Settings and turn on the Send & Archive module. Your Gmail should refresh. Henceforth, whenever you choose to reply to an email you will notice a button similar to the screenshot below. Do you have this enabled? […]
And you don’t need to make the change. Christina explains the change: So why the change? Adding the try and catch to the snippet removes the possibility that your visitor sees a JavaScript message that doesn’t apply to her. It’s a fairly rare occurrence because messages like these (frequently in the form of an alert box) can only appear if JavaScript messaging has been enabled on the browser. Most browsers have JavaScript messaging turned off by default, but sometimes people unintentionally turn it on. For those visitors who have enabled messaging, the try and catch will have the effect of […]
So you’re a web developer. Your job requires you to constantly upload and download files to and from your server. You can easily use the file manager that comes inbuilt with your control panel, but over time you realize it is a painful experience. Uploading and downloading is a lot easy when you use an FTP client. There are quite a few paid ones available, but here are three really excellent FTP clients to choose from. FileZilla FileZilla is a small but powerful FTP client with many features. It includes a site manager to store all your connection details and […]
