K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (Multimedia Monday)
Have you ever opened up a video file only to get an error that it cannot be played. Or maybe you can at least hear the audio but see a blank screen.
Well, in all probability you have the required codecs missing. Short for compressor/decompressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing data.
There are several codec packs available, which not only install the basic codecs but also a wide variety of useful multimedia software.
One of my favorite with I have been using for several years now is the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.
K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video formats. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files.
