All this month of April, the folks at Weblog Tools Collection will be taking up a single plugin every day and reviewing it in detail.
The purpose is to highlight some of the outstanding (for various reasons) plugins available today as well as provide a means for the WordPress community to tell the authors what they [...]

The WordPress Blog announced the release of the official Plugin Directory.
Currently the primary place I use to look for plugins is WP-Plugins.net. It is updated several times a day as plugin authors use it as the first place to announce their plugins. They also have a feed which you can subscribe to.
The new plugins directory [...]

Are you fed up off dull boring feeds in your feed reader? If you’ve styled your blog with CSS (and you should), you will notice that none of these styles show up in any feed reader.
Most feed readers default to same color text with minor styling. If you would like to make your feed stand [...]

WordPress 2.1 released about ten days back. Many hesitated to upgrade and others still haven’t.
I did upgrade two days back and ran into problems. I’m reluctant to upgrade my personal blog even now.
I had originally intended to review WordPress 2.1 in this weeks column, but since I haven’t had much time to explore it well, [...]

I still haven’t upgraded this blog to WordPress 2.1 because of a potential problem with Ultimate Tag Warrior on WordPress 2.1.
Tags would get deleted whenever a comment is added. Christine’s latest release too wasn’t able to fix the same.
082net.com has found a fix that has worked successfully for Donncha on his blog. I’ve applied the [...]

I’m a big fan of Mark Jaquith. He has several useful and easy to use WordPress plugins to his credit.
One such plugin is Clutter Free. It lets you hide portions of the WordPress posting interface that you rarely (or never) use. Instead of being minimized (and still taking up room), they’ll be completely invisible.
How does [...]

There are two things that every site would love, viz. visitors and return visitors, the latter preferably and participaters.
While the commenting system within WordPress allows participation to some extent, it does lack a lot of features, one particularly being the ability for visitors to receive updates on their comments.
You can use external tools like coComment [...]

I had written about the code generated by SpringWidgets not being XHTML compliant.
For users of WordPress I have made available of a plugin that will save you the trouble of figuring out the valid code.
Simply download, install and activate the SpringWidgets plugin.
Add <?php if (function_exists(’echo_springwidgets’)) echo_springwidgets(); ?> where you want to display the widget.
As usual [...]

I have just updated my Open Picture Window Plugin for WordPress.
The only update is the much requested Quick Tags button.
The plugin still doesn’t have a button for the WYSIWYG editor. I’m still working on that. Turns out to be a bit more complex that I was expected.
Anyway, if you are not using the WYSIWYG then [...]

This site has been down for the better half of yesterday. I first thought it to be a problem with my hosting when I realized that I was able to browse the admin area of the blog, while the main site remained offline
I even tried Alertra.com to check if it was a problem [...]
