Windows Vista SP2 RC now available

Service Pack 2 Release Candidate for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 are now available for download to TechNet and MSDN subscribers to test prior to final release. SP2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 include updates that have been delivered since the release of SP1, as well as support for new types of hardware and emerging standards. SP2 weighs in at a sizable 302MB for x86 systems and 508MB for 64-bit operating system versions of Windows Vista.

Microsoft to offer Easy Content Creation tool for Educators

Microsoft has just announced a line up of educational content creators which are collaborating to build products with Semblio. Semblio is a software platform by Microsoft that is geared towards developing better educational content. For now, this software is only available as an SDK for developers but we’re expected to see a version for teacher which will allow them to easily assemble important lectures as in text, audio and video and turn them into interactive lessons.

Windows 7 Beta to be released worldwide tomorrow

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer has announced that a test version of the US software titan’s Windows 7 operating system will be available worldwide on Friday. Earlier he had announced that Windows 7 is nearing completion and is almost ready for release. Windows 7 Beta will be available for all users for testing or regular use until the final version is made available.

Windows 7 and a less irritating UAC

One of the main reasons I disabled User Aaccess Control was the extremely irritating popups that interrupted even the most mundane of tasks. I guess, I’m not the only one and Microsoft has learnt from the experience! Based on what we’ve learned from our data and feedback we need to address several key issues in Windows 7: Reduce unnecessary or duplicated prompts in Windows and the ecosystem, such that critical prompts can be more easily identified.
