Have seen a lot of Flock the past few days and decided to investigate. For those who don’t know yet, Flock is a new browser based on Firefox. Wasn’t really into downloading it until I saw Matt’s post which got me interested. Ofcourse I don’t need another WordPress.com blog but just figuring out how you get one was interesting. Anyway, downloaded and installed the developer release of Flock and was quite pleased to install it. Besides the normal stuff of Firefox, Flock also adds support to blog right from the browser itself. It auto-detected my blogs at AjayDSouza.com and this […]
Lately I’ve come across a lot of persons asking me about the privacy of blogging. Others tell me that they seem to know a lot about me by reading my personal blog even without meeting me. This led me to actually evaluate the privacy of having your own blog. Though the word Weblog originated from Web Log and used to be a personal diary on the web, it has come a long long way from there. Today there are many different types of blogs besides just personal ones. Coming back to the point, while the other types of blogs aren’t […]
Tim O’Reilly in his article What Is Web 2.0? attempts to clarify Web 2.0 (the term was first coined at a conference brainstorming session between O’Reilly and MediaLive International, which also spawned the Web 2.0 Conference) From what I understand, Web 2.0 is the World Wide Web as we know it today. Focus has changed from delivering products to delivering services. e.g Netscape and its browser to Google, its search engine and email service. The rising popularity of programming languages like PHP, Perl and databases like mySQL along with the release of Open Source software has put the normal (read […]
Came across a nice article on geeksmakemehot on making your own guestbook in WordPress 1.5. This would be better than having an external guestbook because: 1. Use just one interface to handle the guestbook, rather than two. 2. Protect your guestbook from spam if you have WP secured. 3. The guestbook fuses perfectly into your website theme. I’m sure there are more reasons, but I can’t think of them right now. She already provides you with a guestbook template for quite a few common themes. And I am planning on releasing a Guestbook Template with my latest release of Connections […]
Got another golden ticket for WordPress.com at another email address of mine. Now, that ticket is pretty useless for me as I already have a blog out here. It also expires in a week, so am willing to give it to anyone who can give me a good enough reason why. But, please note that I do not know how the Golden ticket works and if you will be able to signup for WordPress.com with it (especially since you will have another email address than mine). In case it doesn’t you can write to me an we can see what […]
The last two days have seen long page loads along with temporary downtime at WordPress.com Well things seem to be back on track now. Though I do have a feeling that an older backup was used, because I seem to have lost a comment on my post below. Is it just me? Update (October 10): Things seem to be working fine and pages are loading properly as of […]
Have been using WordPress for over two years now and Blogger for a year. Had always hosted WordPress as my personal blog while chose to start using Blogger just as a test. We now have WordPress.com run by the folks to made WP, while Blogger is owned and operated by the infamous Google Who can use it? While you have total control on your WordPress blog, you have very limited control on your WordPress.com blog, thus making it a good testing ground for beginners. (read my post on my first impressions of WordPress.com) Blogger on the other hand can be […]

Have had some time to evaluate WordPress.com since I signed up two days ago. Signing up was rather easy without having to fill in too much details. My first impression when after having logged in was the sleek looking interface. After having used WordPress for over two years now this was the coolest look I found. The dashboard is a lot more functional, but I think it can be developed still further. The first thing I got down to was editting my Profile and the Options for my settings. Though, the profile page is extensive, I am a little disappointed […]
