Skype: Now on your Nokia Phone, but you can’t send Money anymore

Last week Skype announced that they are partnering with Nokia, to make Skype available in high-end Nokia Nseries devices running the Symbian S60 operating system, offering users pre-loaded out-of-the-box Skype calls, instant messages and more, via both 3G and WiFi. This is definitely a great benefit for users of Skype who prefer Nokia Nseries mobiles. However, you will need a strong internet connection as well as preferably an unlimited data plan.

Skype on N97

This is definitely a great benefit for users of Skype who prefer Nokia Nseries mobiles. However, you will need a strong internet connection as well as preferably an unlimited data plan. While I do have an unlimited data usage plan on my mobile, I’m still crippled by the terrible speed of the Airtel GPRS connection.

In other news, Skype also said that they will be discontinuing the feature of sending money to others via Skype. I never ever used this service, simply because it was much faster to do the same with PayPal directly.

70% of those who make money from their blogs make less than $500 a month. This excludes the 37% of those who voted said that they do not make money from their blogs. So, if you add in that factor you’re talking.

What I am surprised about is the huge 9% who make $20,000 and above!

So, who doesn’t want to make money? The internet has great scope for making money and here are a few ways you can do so.

Google Adsense

Everyone knows Adsense and a good number of people use it. Adsense is one of my favorite programs and serves as my primary sources of revenue. You can paid for clicks on your advertisements. However, it must be warned that Google is very strict about you clicking on your own ads. You also make money by allowing advertisers to advertise in your feeds or by adding Google Search to your blog.

Text Link Ads

TLA is my second favorite program and I have it implemented on all my sites. You are paid to display text links on your blogs / sites / blog posts. TLA shares 50% of the revenue with you. WordPress blogs have the option of displaying a single text ad in the feed.

Kontera

Kontera is the third advertising program I use. Kontera allows in-text advertising. Text on your blog is converted into clickable links. On hovering over these links, users see a small popup that displays information about the link. Clicking these links earns you money.

Performancing Ads

Performancing Ads is a new offering that allows advertisers to place 125×125 advertisements on your blog. You can also promote your other sites by displaying their 125×125 banners on your other sites.

OIOpublisher

OIOpublisher is an ad platform with a focus on performance, control and ease of use. Serve advertising on your blog or website and keep 100% of the revenue you bring in. You install the plugin on your WordPress blog and you can then sell advertising. The plugin supports a wide variety of formats including banners and links.

There are a numerous programs available online besides the five above. I’ve listed these because I use them on some site or the other. What are you doing to make money?

PerformancingAds (Money Monday)

PerformancingAds is the new initiative on the block for advertisements. The focus is on 125×125 advertisements which have found favorite with all publishers and advertisers. PerformancingAds offers three different programs For Advertisers You can hunt for publishers and purchase a slot in the advertisement regions available on the site.

For Advertisers

You can hunt for publishers and purchase a slot in the advertisement regions available on the site. All new users receive a $25 discount on ad purchases of greater than $100.

This is something I haven’t yet tried my hand yet. Not sure if I will end up becoming an advertiser. Have you advertised using PerformancingAds? What is the Return on Investment that you see?

For Publishers

This is the reason I signed up for PerformancingAds. The bar of advertisements that you see in the rightmost sidebar is created by the PerformancingAds plugin that I have installed on the PerformancingAds blog.

For Affiliates

You can also earn money by becoming an affiliate for PerformancingAds.

How it works:
– Earn $10 for each new publisher or advertiser you refer
– Plus, earn 5% recurring revenue on all advertiser ad buys … for life.

One feature I really love is the Exchange Ads. You can create your own 125×125 ads and display them on your own sites. This ensures that you fill the advertising space as well as easily integrate your own advertisements across your sites.

If you would like to display an ad on our site, then purchase an ad slot in the sidebar for only $2.5 weekly.

Money Making Monday: How much is your website worth?

I’ve been researching the value of this blog, not just the domain but the content as well. You can either determine the value of a website manually; Ghacks lists one such method. You can also request a paid evaluation of your domain / site from several services if you are really keen on selling.

You can either determine the value of a website manually; Ghacks lists one such method.

You can also request a paid evaluation of your domain / site from several services if you are really keen on selling.

One method to give you a rough idea of valuing your website is to use an automated tool.

I’ve found two such tools that do the job, but both gave me contradicting results as I tried to value my two sites AjayDSouza.com and Techtites.com.

The first tool is dnScoop which is dedicated for this purpose only.
dnScoop evaluates the value of the domain by checking its Pagerank, Inbound Links, Alexa Traffic Rank, Domain age and the number of indexed pages.

The second tool is CyberWyre’s Website Value Calculator. This tool uses the sites Alexa Rank, Pagerank and Backlinks (inbound links) to calculate the value.

Another great tool is Site Amount. It is an all ajax tool created by the makers of HotPaprs.com and it works great!

The former tool valued this blog at $7560, while the latter valued it at $8,007.

How much would you value this blog? How much are your sites valued at?

Money Making Monday: Get paid to surf

Everyone has been waiting long for the release of the Agloco’s Viewbar which enables you to get paid for surfing sponsored sites and pages. Now after surfing a lot on internet, I found out a hidden and new website which also pays to surf sponsored pages but without installing anything or waiting for any release. 😀 AdBux.

Everyone has been waiting long for the release of the Agloco‘s Viewbar which enables you to get paid for surfing sponsored sites and pages. Now after surfing a lot on internet, I found out a hidden and new website which also pays to surf sponsored pages but without installing anything or waiting for any release. 😀

AdBux.org , a website which pays to be on a sponsored site or page for 30 seconds. It pays 1 cents for staying 30 seconds on the page and in a day there are total of 25 such sites and pages listed. It’s another amazing feature is the affiliate program, here you can earn whatever the person referred by you earns. 🙂

Adbux.org - Money Making Monday!

Now the question arises that How much can I earn in a month from this AdBux.org ? The amount is not to big but its enough to waste 5 minutes daily on the internet. You can earn a total of $77 with 10 referred friends through the affiliate program.

The measure stat which AdBux.org gives:

  • You click 25 ads per day = $0.25
  • 10 referrals click 25 ads per day = $2.50
  • Your weekly earnings = $19
  • Your monthly earnings = $77

And they will make the final payment via Paypal on request of your with a minimum balance of $5 i.e. one week work.

I guess its not bad getting $5 without any referrals and $19 with 10 referrals per week for just giving 5 minutes surfing sponsored pages. 😉 Now I’ve tried it myself and got $15 by date with 13 referrals (I’ve also got the payment of $10 by Paypal) .

This is a good past time by the time Agloco’s Viewbar is released pubically. 🙂 So just goto Adbux.org and signup there!

Note : Hi, My name is Rishi and I am thankful to Ajay for giving me the opportunity to blog @ Techtites. I maintain a tech blog and call it Rishiraj. I hope that you will like my posts over here and the once already @ Rishiraj. 😀
