Five Fun AND Useful Smart Phones

TV remotes are one of those things people love to hate. After all, TV remotes are forever disappearing, their batteries dying, and they just don’t do enough. The Peel app for Android, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch is a fun and useful alternative. Peel not only turns a Smartphone into a TV remote, but also learns TV preferences, tags favorite shows, recommends TV shows and movies, and more. Peel even gives users control over their entertainment system with a simple tap.

Security and peace of mind seem so hard to come by today. The good news is the Vivint app for Android, iPhone, iPad and Blackberry is available with Vivint home security packages. The worry-free app allows users to control and monitor their home security system from work, a friend’s house, or even halfway across the world. Now people can ensure their doors are locked, watch over their home and more from just about everywhere.

WiFi Finder

As much as mobile phones have gone from being a luxury to a necessity for many people, so has WiFi for Smartphone users. Fortunately, the WiFi Finder for Android, iPhone, iPad and iPhone Touch makes the search for WiFi hotspots a little easier. The useful app provides users with a map complete with colored arrows revealing not only WiFi hotspots, but the address and phone number of the venue, the WiFi strength and more. With WiFi Finder, people can make calls, send text, and surf the web without worrying about minutes.

Sharing photos on social media sites is not just something to do today; it is the thing to do today. Instagram for iPhones makes keeping a user’s social media page up-to-date easier. The Instagram app not only lets users instantly share their photos on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and other social media sites, but edit their photos. This fun app even comes with design filters and blur effects, transforming photos into breathtaking images, funny pictures, and far more.

PhotoShop Touch

Sharing photos with family, friends and even coworkers is probably one of the most common and fun uses for a Smartphone today. Now imagine what users could do if they were able to edit their photos on their Smartphone. With the PhotoShop Touch app for Android, users have the same basic editing and layering abilities as they do with PhotoShop for PCs. As a bonus, Photoshop Touch can even sync with laptop and desktop versions through Adobe’s Creative Cloud.

  1. Thanks for sharing these apps Jennie! I’ve been looking for some new ones to add to my phone, so I’ll definitely have to check all of these out! One recommendation I have for a fun phone app is DISH Anywhere. I personally love it as a TV junkie because with it I can watch all of my shows from home, live or from off my DVR, everywhere I go in the world; which comes in handy when I’m traveling for my job at DISH! I like to use the app when I’m waiting in the airport and such, but really I just enjoy the fact that no matter where I am I don’t have to worry about missing my favorite shows! 🙂
