Eight Places to Learn something New! (Tutorial Thursday)

If there is one thing I strongly believe is tapping the power of the Internet to learn. It is with always with great happiness that everything I have learnt in the past ten years (since I got online) has been only through tutorial sites.

Here are a list of some of that where you can quickly and easily find tutorials, articles and information.


This is one of the first places that I began with. At W3Schools you will find all the Web-building tutorials you need, from basic HTML and XHTML to advanced XML, SQL, Database, Multimedia and WAP.

Good PHP Tutorials

Good PHP Tutorials is a site that allows writers to submit their PHP tutorials. These are then published on the site and via their RSS feed.

SitePoint Articles

SitePoint has tonnes of articles distributed into several categories and sub-categories. There’s tonnes to learn on the site and there is a constant flow of new articles.


AskApache is your one stop site to learn everything you wanted about the famous web server. There are tutorials on .htaccess, as well as several other topics like AJAX, CSS, Google, WordPress etc.


This is yet another site that allows authors to submit their tutorials on various topics ranging from graphics, animation software, business development, marketing, web design and development etc.

Tutorials and Online Training @ Sun

Who better to teach you than the ones who created it. Learn the various Java technologies – from the fundamentals of the Java programming language to web services and the Java EE platform – through these online tutorials and training courses.

Good Tutorials

Yet another tutorial submission site. Good Tutorials lists hundreds of tutorials that are submitted by artists on various web design and development topics.

ActionScript.org Tutorials

The ActionScript.org tutorials section hosts detailed articles about Flash, Flex and ActionScript.

    I read Smashing Magazine as well. Have to actually check out w3.org. Didn’t realize they had many tutorials :O
