I came across an article in the Economic Times, India a few days back which had some frightening statistics about Google. According to a new research by Alex Wissner-Gross, a typical search generates about seven grammes of CO2 whereas an electric kettle generates about 15 gm. On average there are 200 million searches performed daily which is a lot of CO2.
Windows 7 Beta was released two days and Microsoft’s servers went for a toss. The problems have now been fixed and you can now download the ISO directly from Microsoft servers. You can even pick it up using Bittorrent or other Torrent software.
Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer has announced that a test version of the US software titan’s Windows 7 operating system will be available worldwide on Friday. Earlier he had announced that Windows 7 is nearing completion and is almost ready for release. Windows 7 Beta will be available for all users for testing or regular use until the final version is made available.
The Twitter Blog reported last week that people are receiving emails which contain links to a phishing site asking you to enter your login details. I decided to check it out today and was surpised to see that the entire twitter interface has been converted to that of Facebook, which means that they are now getting ready for a Facebook phishing scam! Good news is that Internet Explorer (with Website Checking Enabled), Firefox 3 (Firefox 2 did not block the site) and Google Chrome all display big warnings.
