88,400 in 2 days, that’s what Sony sold!

The PlayStation 3 was released in Japan just two days back and Reuters reports that 88,400 units have already been sold!

I don’t think even Sony expected such a craze for their gaming console.

Unfortunately for them, only 100,000 units were available for launch because of a glitch in blue laser diode production.

The PS3 basic model sells at $425. This has a 20GB hard drive. The advanced model with 60GB sells for $510.

The PS3 is Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s XBox 360 and Nintendo’s WII (scheduled for launch on Nov. 19)

Sony plans to release the PS3 in North America on November 17, followed by a European launch in March.
