Unlocker – get rid of pesky un-deletable files!

Ever gotten those annoying Windows errors that won’t allow you to delete a file because it’s being used by some program on a monkey’s computer somewhere in the middle of the Amazon?

I’ve had this problem on more than one occasion. And the normal response to this would be to fire up the windows task manager and look for what program could be using it. Most of the time you’ll come up with no answer and do what most Windows users are habited to doing.. restart.

Well, fear no more, for we have a solution to your problem.

Unlocker is a really neat piece of software that allows you to delete files that give you the “unable to delete” error with a simple right click.
You no longer have to re-boot or search through your task manager to find out what could be using the file, just right click and ‘unlock’.

From the site:

Helps delete locked files with error messages like:

  • Cannot delete file: Access is denied
  • There has been a sharing violation.
  • The source or destination file may be in use.
  • The file is in use by another program or user.
  • Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

The software is barely 237kb in size and the best thing about it is that it’s free.

My only warning to you would be not to delete any Windows system files in your new found enthusiasm.
