Add colour to your Twitter experience with Twimbow
Are you following a few hundred people on Twitter? If you do, then you’ll realise that the frequent updates on Twitter are close to impossible to follow, unless you’re monitoring Twitter continuously. Twimbow is a web application that helps any social media user to engage their network of friends more effectively, by organizing and enriching their conversations online.

The key feature of Twimbow is its ability to make your twitter feeds more manageable by colour coding them. However, Twimbow goes over and beyond just that. You have an integrated ability to manage your twitter followers, filter hash tags and more. You can also share your tweets on Facebook or save them on Instapaper.
Twimbow also lets you quickly browse through your mentions, sent and received DMs and your statuses that have been retweeted. One really good feature is to schedule your tweets. With this, you can easily spread multiple tweets over the day or on a daily basis.
The app uses Oauth and so it easily logins to your twitter and fetches content seamlessly without any major effort on your part. Of course, you’ll need to set this up the first time. And, if you are a Google Chrome users, you can get hold of the Twimbow extension from the Chrome store.

Find your Facebook friends who use Twitter with Twabble’s fb140
There are so many social networking platforms out there that I don’t think anyone has an exact count. As bloggers, we try to make our presence felt on as many as possible. Currently, without doubt, Facebook and Twitter are the two extremely popular social networking sites. While Facebook has a lot more to offer than Twitter, Twitter’s popularity is second to none in its market.
You can improve your connectivity with your Facebook friends by finding them and following them on Twitter. I’m pretty sure they will follow you back. While you can go about manually hunting down their Twitter ids, Twabble’s fb140 application makes life easy for you.
In three steps you’re good to go.
- Sign into Facebook so that we know who you are, and can check your friends list
- Sign in to Twitter so that we can link it to your Facebook account
- Select which of your friends you want to follow
And, if you haven’t been following me yet, I’m present as @ajaydsouza and @Techtites on Twitter and ajaydsouza on Facebook. And if you haven’t already please do become a fan of Techtites on FB. If you’re adding me on Facebook, do drop in a line so I know who you are.
Thanks to @ronakshah for the tip.

Backup Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and other services with Backupify
A few years ago we didn’t have Flickr or Twitter, Facebook or even Gmail! Then came a flurry of social networking sites which allowed you to find your friends, make new ones, share photos and videos and even your every minute activities!
With that comes the risk of losing this information if the service shuts down or even worse, if your account is hacked.
Founded about a year back as Lifestreambackup, Backupify currently supports the backup of your Flickr, Twitter, Delicious, Zoho, Google Docs, Photobucket, WordPress, Basecamp, Gmail, Facebook, Friendfeed and Blogger accounts.
Backupify offers all users a completely free Twitter backup. However to backup any other account, you’ll need to get hold of one of the paid accounts.
So, for the purpose of this post, I will explain how you can go ahead with backing up your Twitter account. Of course, you will need to signup for Backupify.

Statistics for your Twitter Profile
A lot of users are on Twitter to connect with other people for either expanding their horizons or to increase brand awareness of their firm / product / blog etc. No matter why you’re on Twitter, perhaps a bit of ego-stroking or actual knowledge of the statistical metrics generated by your profile might be of use. In this post, we’re taking a look at a few sites that provide statistics for a Twitter Profile:
TweetStats.com offers charting and graphs to better let you understand your usage habits. There are charts that’ll show you the average number of tweets per day as well as an average weekly analysis showing you the days and times that you normally tweet in. A detailed timeline showing off the monthly tweeting activity is also charted. Two additional charts that were of particular interest to me were the RT chart which indicated the users whose tweets you re-tweeted most often and of course the friend replies chart which shows you the users you respond to the most. Go here for more – http://tweetstats.com/

Twitalyzer:Â I found Twitalyzer to be a little faster than TweetStats. What makes this stand out from other twitter graphing services is it’s concepts of what makes for a useful and productive Twitter profile. Twitalyzer analyzes your previous tweets and then describes characteristics such as Influence, Signal, Generosity, Velocity and Clout.
Influence as described in the FAQ is calculated based on:
- Your relative reach in Twitter, measured by the number of followers you have
- Your relative authority, measured by the number of times you are “retweeted”
- Your relative generosity, measured by the number of times you “retweet” others
- Your relative clout, measured by the number of times you are referenced by others
- Your relative velocity, measured by the number of updates you publish over a seven day period
Signal The Signal-To-Noise ratio is a measure of the tendency for people to pass information, as opposed to anecdote, meaning tweets that either retweet or contain a link URL. Basically, it’s a measure of apparently useful tweets to the community.
Generosity is quite simply a measure of how often you retweet other users’ tweets and spread the word.
Velocity Simply put, it’s how often you tweet. This stat is judged against a theoretical maximum of 1,500 updates per week.
Clout is the likelihood that other people will reference you in Twitter, as in “gee that @techtites sure does drive a lot of traffic!” The more people who reference you, the higher your clout.

Twitter Grader
Twitter Grader grades and ranks the Twitter profile of choice based upon a number of factors, as detailed in this post. It also offers an overall grade out of 100 and your ranking based on that grade. It’s simple, easy to use and the one reason it brought a smile to my face were the inane updates displayed in the box while the script was attmpting to nail down the calculations.
A final note – All of the above services are open, meaning NO authentication is required. You’re free to view the statistics of ANY twitter user who has an unprotected timeline (which is pretty much the vast majority of tweeple out there). Naturally, statistics for more successful twitters with a large number of tweets and followers will take far, far longer to compute – so grab a cuppa if you’re planning on seeing stats for @StephenFry, @mashable, @scobleizer et al.
