Media-Convert

Media-Convert is a 100% free, Document, Compressed archive, sound and video converter.

Similar to Media-Convert is Zamzar, an upcoming file conversion services.

Zamzar

Both have almost similar list of conversion features. Both have the ability to convert document, images, music and video into their corresponding formats.

Media-Convert’s list of formats is on their homepage, which you can read Zamzar’s list.

What is really cool with using these websites to convert files is that you no longer need to worry about downloading and maybe even buying software to do the same.

However, you must have the patience to wait while the file conversion takes place.

Media-Convert wins over Zamzar on three places. One is the ability to enter a URL and get a screenshot of the site.
Another is that Media-Convert hosts the file for a period of six days, while Zamzar does the same for only one day and emails you the location of the file. You need to provide an email address, which Media-Convert doesn’t need.

Media-Convert also allows you to download the file via WAP / GPRS.

I tried Media-Convert to generate a screenshot of this site, while I used Zamzar to convert a jpg into a BMP.

Both performed well in their respective tasks :)

Is this the future of file conversion? Will we no longer need software to do the same? Hopefully this will see some more free file conversion software releasing!
