Google Updates this Week (20th to 25th October 2008)

This week has been a rather active week for the folks at Google.

You can now publish to your Blogger blog directly from iGoogle. Additionally, you can now choose to embed comments below your post inself instead of having them on a new page.

At long last, Google Analytics is being integrated with Google Adsense. Adwords has had the integration with Analytics since a long time.

Google Analytics itself has seen the addition of several features that really help you study your site visits better.

For people like me who keeping checking their email while on the move, Gmail Mobile 2.0 has been released. This is a major update over 1.5, with support for multiple accounts. No longer do I need to use Google Apps Mobile. Mail can now be sent in the background and basic offline support has been included. Go to m.google.com/mail in your mobile browser.

Canned Responses have been added to Gmail. These are basically standard replies that you can save and use whenever you want. Really useful when you want to send the same responses over and over again!

WordPress: $10; Blogger: Free

WordPress vs. Blogger

Blogger has always supported publishing to your own webspace via FTP. What it lacked was the ability to point your own domain to your blogspot account.

WordPress.com got that one up on Blogger when they launched this feature that allowed you to map your domain to your WordPress.com blog. This service is charged at $10 for your already existing domain.

And Blogger just got that one up this time. Today, they have launched Custom Domains.

If you already own a domain named, say, mysite.com and want your blog to be served at that address instead of at a blogspot.com address, we can host your blog on that domain for you — for free.

We still have big time bloggers like Amit who use Blogger. WordPress.com also has its share.

I’m not sure if either will shift to a hosted domain. But, for other bloggers already publishing via FTP will this addition to Blogger make you move back to hosting at Blogger instead of your own space?

TLA works with Blogger

Text Link Ads

Blogger Beta

Text Link Ads (aff.) publishing program now is compatible with Blogger. However, you need to be using the latest version of Blogger for this to work.

I don’t intend to give this a test on my blogger blogs, because both are dead!

But, are you a using Blogger? I would like feedback of the same, including ease of use and how much your making from it.
