Techtites Daily: Tool Tuesday

Internet Explorer 7 is indeed one of the better releases of the browser. It corrected a lot of things and made is developer and userfriendly. The best addition to the browser was the Tab Browsing. I would have loved to have more features like adblocking and mouse gestures, but I guess that wasn’t meant to be.

However, if you’re like me in that respect, then IE7pro is a fantastic addon that achieves just that.

IE7pro

IE7pro adds six features to Internet Explorer. They are:

Tab Management

Out of the many, two good features under this are the ability to detect crashes in the browser and so restore the session. This is a feature inbuilt in Firefox, Opera and Maxthon, but sadly missing from IE.
Another feature is the Tab history, again present in the above three browsers. Tab history helps you track the recent tabs, so if you close one accidently, you can quicly open it.

Ad Filter

Blocks all forms of advertising, including Flash ads, rich media, fly-ins, slide-ins, pop-ups, pop-unders, spyware and adware ads, and messenger ads.

Super Drag and Drop

This is a feature I love. You can just click-and-hold a url, or selected text and drag it and drop it. Drag and dropped URLs open the corresponding page. Text is searched for in the default search engine.

Mouse Gestures

Browsing is a lot easier with this feature. Quickly move back and forward, close windows, open tabs; all by rightclicking your mouse button and performing a gesture.

Save Page to Image

This was a feature I discovered recently and is extremely useful especially with all the website work I do. You can quickly save the entire page in the browser window to a png, gif, jpeg, tiff or bmp image.

Quick Switch Proxy

Here’s a feature I haven’t needed to use it. It become useful when you have several different internet connections and each requires a seperate proxy setting. It also works well if you are trying to use some kind of anonymous proxy while browsing.

Whichever feature you use, I’m sure IE7pro will definitely make your Internet Explorer browsing a lot more lasting. (and don’t tell me to use Firefox).
