Every once in a while an image editing software comes along that claims to be as good as Adobe Photoshop. One such software has been GIMP, which was primarily an image editing software for Linux.
When it came to Windows, one software that stood out has been Paint.NET.
Paint.NET is free image editing and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run Windows. It supports layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools.
The program loads rather quickly. It does take a while to get around its interface at first. But, as you use it everything becomes rather familiar and easy to use. Work will end up getting faster.
The software can handle all kinds of minor editing, simple image conversion as well as more complex special effects.
Best of all is the Open Source license, which is definitely a winner.
