At times you might like to have a drive mapped to a particular folder / subfolder. This situation could arise if say you copied the cotents of a CD on your drive and the setup requires to have be run from a drive directly and not via the folder.
In such a situation the DOS SUBST command would be useful. However, an easier way of doing this would be to use Virtual Drive CreatorTM which provides you with the needed frontend.

VDC is a freeware program that lets you map an folder / sub-folder to a drive letter.
The VDC file to download is nice and compact and the installation is quick and easy. Using the program is extremely simple and easy to use, though they do include a Help file. All you have to do is browse for the path and select the drive letter you wish you assign, as shown in the screenshot above.
The virtual drives remain for as long as your system is running or until you choose to remove it using the program. If you wish to make the drives permanent so that they are retained even after reboot, you will need to purchase the pro version of this software for $14.95.
Quick, easy to use and light on the system, like I want my freeware programs to be.
- Virtual Drive Creator [~400KB]
- Virtual Drive Creator with VB runtimes [~1.3MB]
