Those who have been reading this blog regularly would have realized that I love tiny pieces of free / open source software.
One such piece of software is StripMail.
You will notice that many forwarded emails usual have broken paragraphs and plenty of line breaks. Still others have irritaing “>” signs at the start of every line.
More the mail it forwarded, the more this worsens to point of illegibility.
That is where StripMail steps in. StripMail is a FREEWARE utility that:

- Strips the characters “>” and “|” from forwarded e-mails.
- Formats the text into paragraphs, making it easier to read.
- Changes the text’s right margin, by indenting.
- Can be used with any e-mail client.
It is a small executable file that doesn’t need any installation. You can run the process in automatic mode (just select DO IT ALL) or in manual mode (recommended).
Simply copy the text of the email to the clipboard and hit the paste button in StripMail to paste it. Hitting Strip will strip out the characters and Paragraph will create paragraphs from the text. This usually works though at times the paragraphs are incorrectly formed. This is usually the case of poems. Copy once again copies the text ready to be pasted in your email application.
Indent is to add characters back, though I don’t see why this is needed!
One thing I will admit is that StripMail has definitely saved me lots of time while forwarding emails.
