WordPress vs. Blogger

Blogger has always supported publishing to your own webspace via FTP. What it lacked was the ability to point your own domain to your blogspot account.

WordPress.com got that one up on Blogger when they launched this feature that allowed you to map your domain to your WordPress.com blog. This service is charged at $10 for your already existing domain.

And Blogger just got that one up this time. Today, they have launched Custom Domains.

If you already own a domain named, say, mysite.com and want your blog to be served at that address instead of at a blogspot.com address, we can host your blog on that domain for you — for free.

We still have big time bloggers like Amit who use Blogger. WordPress.com also has its share.

I’m not sure if either will shift to a hosted domain. But, for other bloggers already publishing via FTP will this addition to Blogger make you move back to hosting at Blogger instead of your own space?
