Techtites Daily: Tip Thursday

I have one Gmail account and two Google Apps for Domain accounts. I’ve been using the former a lot and really liked having Google Talk running for the latter two.

Google Talk

This tip finally helps me achieve this.

In order to run multiple instances of Google Talk, all you need to do is pass the parameter nomutex to the Google Talk Executable. i.e. you run "c:\program files\google\google talk\googletalk.exe" /nomutex

You can make things easier by creating a permanent shortcut for the same by following these instructions:

1. Right-click on the blank space on your desktop and when the menu pops up select Shortcut under New

2. The Create Shortcut Wizard will open. In the box enter "c:\program files\google\google talk\googletalk.exe" /nomutex as shown in the figure below and hit Next.

3. In the next screen give the shortcut a name like I have given below.
Give the Shortcut a name

4. A new shortcut has been created on the desktop now. Running this shortcut will automatically launch multiple instances of Google Talk.
