Corel said that beginning mid 2007, WordPerfect will support both Open Document Format (ODF) and Open XML.
ODF is supported by OpenOffice.org while Open XML is the new document format supported by Microsoft Office 2007.
Richard Carriere, Corel’s general manager of office productivity, told Linux-Watch “Unfortunately, it is too early to disclose the details of the next version of Corel WordPerfect Office, but we will keep you closely availed of our plans as we are able to describe them further.”

I’d like your readers to know that ODF is also known as ISO 26300, international standard.
It is great to see Corel planning support for this important standard with wide implications in the long term archiveability of documents.
