In a letter to the Hula Newsgroup, Novell’s Peter Teichman has stated that Novell will no longer be supporting the Hula Project.
Hula is a mail and calendar server with a friendly web-interface designed for a great user experience.
This is indeed a major hit for the Open Source project started by Novell a few months back.
Novell will no longer have anyone working full-time on Hula. They will also not be funding the project.
How does this spell for Hula? Will the project continue or will it be shut down remains to be seen.

Open-Xchange is sorry to hear that Hula is no longer being supported by Novell and welcome all members of the Hula project to join us in strengthening our creative energies and the open source philosophy as a whole. Not too long ago Open-Xchange was also in a similar situation; our company was here before Novell endorsed Hula and we continue to thrive as a successful open source collaboration model today. We look forward to hearing from members of Hula, and encourage them to rejoin our community.
