Today a post on BloggingPro brings to focus an extremely interesting point in WordPress.com’s TOS.
the Content is not spam, and does not contain unethical or unwanted commercial content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites, or to further unlawful acts (such as phishing) or mislead recipients as to the source of the material (such as spoofing);
I’m not sure when exactly this TOS was added, but this point stands out with it’s blue background.
From this point what can be understood (says BloggingPro) and what I believe is true is that you cannot make any affiliate post. This would mean that posts from PayPerPost or ReviewMe should be out.
I don’t consider your posts as “unethical” or “unwanted”. But the way PayPerPost and ReviewMe work, the posts could definitely be considered commericial content.
WordPress.com hasn’t specifically mentioned that these are allowed and as of yet there is no news of any post or blog being deleted because of this.
The reactions from the WordPress.com are to be seen. The community has been very critical in the past and I’m sure this will be the case.
I have a WordPress.com blog, which I use on and off so I don’t think I will be facing problems with this.
What do you have to say about this?
