Browser Wars! Who is the fastest?

How to Create performed an extensive browser speed test. Several browsers were tested across MacOS, Windows and Linux to reveal astonishing results (?)

The browsers were tested based on several parameters including Cold Start, Warm Start, CSS Rendering, Table Rendering, Script Speed, loading Images and loading pages from History.

I can’t comment on the results observed on MacOS and Linux because I haven’t used the first at all and hardly used the second.

But, on the windows the results were as I expected.

Opera clearly won the speed loading tests in all the categories. Opera’s claim to be the faster browser is true indeed :)

If you want my honest opinion, I may use Firefox a lot, almost as much as IE (Maxthon actually) but from my experience over the past few years, Opera has always proved to be lightening fast, both while loading, for the minimal memory that it uses and for the speed at which pages load.

Firefox is a big memory hog, even for its default install. IE7 too is equally bad while starting up!

But, in the end, to each his own. I’m sure a lot of loyal Firefox users will flame me for putting down their favorite browser!

You can read the test or directly skip to the results before you do so!
